Failure- part 2
Case study:
Gareth Southgate, football player and became captains with in many different teams. Overall seen as a successful football player.
Why are we talking about Gareth Southgate?Because he tried something, and it failed, but he didn’t see it as the ‘end of the world’, but a point for him to work on and improve next time.
Three key areas:- Resilience
- Reflection
- Rectification
Rio, Lampard and Stevie G interview:- Lack of communication
- Community lacking from experience
- Value of closeness of team
- Recognising the bigger picture of who is responsible à in terms of my own work, (is it me, my tutors, other peers)
How does this link with my practice?- Crit sessions
- Peer feedback
- Flexibility
- Team work
Gareth Southgate decided to make the decision as the football manager of the England team, to not include one of his most experienced team members within the match that they played in Russia, leaving him on the side lines. Gareth Southgate decided to instead use newer members, that were less experienced than Paul Robinson who is much more experienced and has had a lot of success in the past. Because of this decision, England lost the match. There was a massive up-roar around this time, with a lot of unhappy fans.
